Hello! My name is Shayna Hodge. I am a firm believer in Karma, therefore I have lead a pretty satisfying life. Currently I am enrolled at Oakland University, working towards my Bachelors degree in Women and Gender Studies. I plan to graduate winter 2012. From there I would like to work further towards a sociology degree so I can work with battered women and children, and fight towards equality for women, homosexuals and mix gendered people. I have a passion for making people happy and at most changing their lives in a positive way.

I would like to work as an au pair because first and for most, traveling sounds beautiful to me. I recall the first day of my Intro to Women and Gender studies class, we had to go around in a circle and state why we were majoring in these studies. I stated that someday, I would love to travel the world and experience different situations in which women live in and help them gain equality in these trying times. I think that to change the world, it starts with our children, and if we can teach are children equality, love and acceptance at an early age, we can change the world. The children are our future.
Growing up I took many babysitting class's involving safety with fire hazards, poison hazards, safety for children. I grew up with two younger brothers, with my mother always at work, and I was always with them making sure they were fed, and taken care of appropriately, my father was not around until after I was graduated from high school and my brothers were too old for babysitting. Sense graduating high school, I have worked in many sales environments and restaurants, where children were always welcome and associated with. I am extremely fond of human interaction and learning, I appreciate humanity and growth, and that is why I am going to college for it.
