Dear Family Letter:
Dear Family,
My name is Oana. I am a 23 year-old Romanian Psychology and Education Bachelor, and working part time as a Social worker, Psychologist and Teacher. The organization I’m working for is collaborating with a governmental institution which is offering shelter for asylum seekers. Working within this project, I have the responsibility to offer social and psychological support to a number of 30-50 beneficiaries, among who are 15 children, aged 2 to 17. Considering the fact that they all speak their native language (they come from countries like Afghanistan, Cameroon, Congo, Serbia etc.), I try to teach them both English and Romanian language. Besides school lessons, I organize and take part in recreational indoor and outdoor activities: we sing, dance, watch cartoons, play games, role play, draw, paint, and narrate stories, in Romanian and English words. We also visit the public library, the local museum, the local animal park, go out on picnics and sport trips.
When it comes to child care past experience, I have looked after children in both formal and informal contexts and I tell you more about that, if interested.
My partner, Sorin, is also 23 years old and he curently works as an Immigration Police agent. He knows an intermediary level of English, although, working full time in an intercultural environment (he works in a Reception for aslum seekers and refugees), his vocabulary is getting better, day by day.
He has no childcare experience, although he does have a nephew whom he loves. He is a hardworking man and he likes to help with tasks around the house (he has a great eye for detail). He got his driver licence in 2005 and he has been in more than 20 escorting missions since then (the director of the Reception Center would gladly give a reference for him).
I will start my nanny contract on the 1st of June, with a brittish host family, living in Alsace, France, but when the contract will end, I am planning on moving to the U.K., with Sorin.
As far as preferences are concerned, we are looking for a full-time arrangement with a host family, that would be happy to have us stay with and work for them for at least 6 months. If the family would prefer having just a nanny, then Sorin will find his own job, but we would very much like to have our own accomodation.
We would be happy to have the opportunity to speak with you: to answer whatever questions you may have about us or our experience, to learn more about your family, your interests and to know more about what you expect from the nany arrangement.
Thank you very much for your interest in our application! We look forward to hearing from you.
Kind regards,
Oana and Sorin.
