Dear Au Pair Letter:
Dear Future Au Pair,
We are a family of four looking forward to welcome You to our family as Au Pair.
Liva (daughter) is 4½ years old and attending the nearby kindergarden called Troldehuset (House of Trolls). Here she plays with her friends Monday – Friday. Liva like to paint, draw, ‘read’ books, play with beads and dress up like a princess. :-)
Oskar (son) is 1½ years old and attending the nearby child nursery. He is a happy child full of energy – and very lovely and keen on giving hugs. :-)
Signe (mother) is 36 years old and Master of Psychology from University of Copenhagen and is w̉orking full time at an institution for children (up to 18 years of age). This is a quite new job which she is very happy about. Previously, she was working at a municipality with guiding educators and testing pre school children.
Jeppe (father) is 36 years old and Master of Science in Engineering from the Technical University of Denmark. He is working as team manager for a team of nine people of high education at Ecolabelling Denmark at Danish Standards.
As both parents are working full time, we really could use your help in our everyday life. Hence, we e.g. would like you to help tidying up after the kids, cleaning, laundering and from time to time cooking and babysitting. A few times a week we also need help to bring/pick up the children to/from kindergarten. In total you shall expect to spend about 20-25 hours a week on these chores.
We will treat you as a member of the family, and therefore we are looking for a person that is kind, easy going, responsible and mature and preferably with experience in talking care of children. Quite often we meet with our family and friends. Both our families lives within 30 km distance.
You will receive a monthly allowance of DKK 3,200 as well as free food and lodging. In our house you will be given your own fully furnished room.
Our house is a typically Danish red brick house build in 1937 and recently renovated. We also have a nice garden which we enjoy especially in the summer. The house is located in the town of Sengeløse 20 km west of Central Copenhagen. Sengeløse has about 2,000 inhabitants, public schools, several day care institutions, sports facilities and a supermarket just opposite from our house. It is quite easy by car, bus or bike to go to the nearby train station where there are several trains every hour to Copenhagen city centre.
Denmark is a small country in Scandinavia with less than 6 million inhabitants. The Danish people are known to be the happiest people in the World and we can assure you that you with our family will have all the prerequisites for an experience of a life time.
We hope that this information have been informative and caught your interest. Although we have never had an au pair before, we have great expectations to the cultural exchange and other aspects of the Au Pair programme.
Please refer to http://www.nyidanmark.dk/en-us/coming_to_dk/au_pairs/au_pairs.htm for more information about the Danish Au Pair Programme. Of course, we will help you applying and cover the costs for this if we agree that you match our requirements.
With love from Denmark,
Oskar, Liva, Signe and Jeppe
